Many experts claim that foot wear is not important for infants. However, many mothers say otherwise. This makes baby booties an essential part of an infant's first set of clothes. In a sense, they function like shoes.

However, baby booties are more suited for babies since they are made to fit the unique shape of their feet. The feet of babies are square-shaped, unlike the rectangular-shape of the regular developed adult feet. This makes baby booties the most practical footwear for babies.

Knitted booties are also cheap, making it the ideal baby's footwear. Babies outgrow their clothes at a very fast rate. Therefore, parents should give their babies inexpensive but effective footwear, since they are bound to their children baby booties more than once.

Of course, babies will have to stop wearing baby booties once they start learning how to walk. Baby booties offer minimal protection from hazards, so regular shoes that offer more protection in the sole is needed. Parents will have to consider buying regular shoes once they start walking a few steps.

Choosing and Buying the Best Baby Booties and Baby Shoes

Outfitting the little guy with a new wardrobe, including baby booties and eventually baby shoes, can be quite a daunting and time-consuming task, but a task most new parents love.

Baby booties should be warm, snugly, and of course, cute! Look for ones with a top that will stay up when baby kicks those tiny toes. If your baby happens to be a preemie or has just really tiny feet, finding a well-fitting bootie can sometimes be difficult.

Probably due to the cuteness factor, some moms have an urge to put shoes on a small baby. They are often available in many adult-looking styles, such as tennis shoes, cowboy boots or even men's work-style shoes. Small babies often have a problem keeping this style of shoe on their feet.

Once your baby is up and walking, a well-fitting pair of tennis shoes is always a good choice. Long ago, patent leather was what every well-dressed toddler wore.
